METFORMIN, CLOMID, AND OTHER PCOS MEDICATION
Did you know that if you have been on Metformin for a long period of time, (approximately 12 months or more) it can deplete the body of essential vitamins, in particular B vitamins? This can result in some PCOS sufferers having mood swings, tiredness, lethargy and irritability. A personal diet, rich in the vitamins, that will give you all the stamina you need for health, without gimmicks or hunger, is needed. Ask Norah Elizabeth Lane for advice on the best type of diet.

HAVE YOU GAINED WEIGHT WHILST SUFFERING WITH PCOS?
It could be an insulin problem. To help you cope with your symptoms, and lose weight healthily, you need a low-fat, low-sugar, low-carbohydrate and protein healthy eating plan. This plan needs to be worked out to suit your individual metabolic rate and lifestyle. It also needs to be rich in the extra vitamins that your body is short of, in order to get you back to optimum health. For a personal diet, with the support that you need, contact our dietetic expert Norah Elizabeth Lane, for more information. .

PESTICIDES, CHEMICALS AND ADDITIVES
Organically-grown fruit and vegetables are much better for each one of us, but they are strongly advised for the PCOS sufferers. If you cannot find organically-grown produce, or perhaps it is too expensive, you should be washing your non-organic produce in one part cider vinegar and twelve parts water, to ensure that some of the pesticides and chemicals are removed. After washing, rinse in filtered clear water to remove vinegar odour.

PRE-PACKED FOODS
Did you know that you should avoid processed or pre-packed foods? This is because of the additives, colourings and ‘e’ numbers that they can contain. Again, you need food that is free of all additives, pesticides and chemicals, to ensure better health.

CANNED DRINKS
Did you know that some cans are lined with aluminium, which is a chemical. Therefore it is not advisable to drink from cans or plastic bottles. Try always to drink from a glass container.

MICROWAVING
Did you know that microwaving, pre-packed meals or any food that is in a plastic container, can cause problems for PCOS sufferers? These foods can also contain preservatives, artificial colourings, additives and again, wherever possible microwaving through plastic containers should be avoided. Place all food in glass containers before microwaving.
